Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Elder Law But Were Afraid to Ask/Question #6

How does one donate the brain of a deceased person for Alzheimer’s research?

For complete information about how to complete such a donation, we recommend that you contact either the National Institutes of Health (888-272-4617) or the Alzheimer’s Association (800-272-3900).

There are a few things to consider to make sure that the brain is successfully donated:
— The donor must consent to the future donation.
— Arrangements for the future donation must be made well in advance of the death of the donor.
— The donation must be completed within 24 hours of death.
